Best-Fit Colleges

Naviata offers a simple, step-by-step approach to help you rank colleges and create a personalized best-fit colleges list based on what matters most to you. Just follow the steps below:

Step 1 : Creating and Exporting Your College List

You may proceed to Step 2 below if you have already created your College List. If not, click here and follow the steps to create your College List.

Step 2: Understanding the Comparion Model

There are three phases you have to do to perform the evaluation:

1. Answering the Insight Survey

From the Welcome page, click the Next button to go to the step 2 in the list of steps at the bottom of the page. A survey will ask you to specify:

a) a minimum of 3 objectives or criteria that matter to you when choosing a college/university (by clicking the check boxes)

b) and colleges to evaluate with respect to the objectives that you selected. To add colleges, simply open the file that you exported from the College Navigator using a spreadsheet software such as the Microsoft Excel and then paste them to the text area provided in the insight survey. You can also type-in additional colleges that are not in the exported file.

2. Evaluating Colleges with Respect to Objectives

After you finished the Insight Survey, click Next at the lower right of the screen to continue through the evaluation steps. You will first be asked to evaluate the colleges you selected with respect to the objectives.

3. Evaluating the Importance of the Objectives

After you have completed prioritizing the colleges with respect to the objectives, you are ready to evaluate the importance of the objectives. Depending on the situation, you will do this using a slider to represent the relative importance of pairs of objectives or by entering in a verbal judgment.

Step 3: Seeing Results

After you have completed your evaluation, you will then be presented with the results of your evaluation. You may go back to the previous steps to modify your judgments. Sensitivity analyses are also available to show how the priorities of your College choices would change if the objective priorities were to change.

Step 4: Ranking Your College List

Once you’ve created your college application list - say, seven colleges - and used Comparion™ to rank them, you’ll have your personalized best-fit colleges list.
